Since 2017 the international half legend Berlin artist & Violaplayer & Violinist TT Geigenschrey (played with Artists like Gunter Schickert, Sandra Bell, Faust; Embryo; Mooseheart Faith Interstellar Groove Band; Vic Chestnutt,Simon Joyner, Chris Cacavas; Schwefel; Artwork; Wynn; Bilders; Renderers; Kiwisex) elaborated a specific Art Form in Music:Turning circumstances into his own advantage, that most instrumentalists in rock are limited or prejudiced regarding improvisation or violins in rock music he invented and focused on the 2 man essence of his ViolinDrum-Band and his very own Art Form: the expressive impressive like free painting approached Art of CovermutaTTion and Improcomposition in Studio- and Livesituation.
all Tracks foreign or own created are were improvsised and interpreted on Violin and Drums and all by Ear, Fantasy and Intuition. First Take counts/is definite. No Overdubs no practice, no preparation, no cut/outs, no cheating, no Playalongs, no repetition, all material is created transferred mutated uniquely. All chosen Songs are once heard then at once played and interpreted. Mostly it worked cause playing and continuing .. was like practice makes perfect (like the experimental mind brothers WIRE pronounced it in one of their songs TT Project also cover mutated once or twice). But we always played in a flow, all in, without to much brain concept or anxieties to lose or fail. all Improvisation on our own creations or Cover-Mutations were made in the moment of creation while playing, after we once heard the original song.. It was at first a big challenge or burden to find the adequate alteration or substitute form for a full band setup all the bass or solo or harmony frequencies and color had to be taken over by 2 instrumentalists in a flow without speaking about in in blind agreement and cooperation communication construction( a lot of Co-munism), no singer no bass no Guitar etc.. Even the Vocalparts were altered and taken over by Drums or Violin/Viola..
So all is improvised, free balanced, like tiightropedancers, full in and all in, but differentiated in dramaturgy and dynamics while creating, Roel model and mind brothers sisters are/were all good creative wild experimental Rock or Impro or JazzBands like Sun Ra or Zappa).
All done,realized, essentialized and in challenging freedom and flight improvements just in the moment, Spontanity, Free Form, arranged altered while playing. Mostly realized in the essential Bandsetup of a 2 persons, which mostly as an Instrumental Duo fully had to take over all functions and roles of a full Bandsetup: songwriting and creating and playing means composing altering and instrumental roles like Melody & Rhythm & Harmonies & Soli, Arranging and Structuring.
In summer 2020 the Violin Drum Band (no Bass no guitar no keyboard just E- Viola/Violin and Children-Drumset) went open air to inspire and lift up and motivate and encourage the people after Corona Lockdown, playing different chosen public places and locations, mostly parks, islands,city mountains and platforms like the Teufelsberg or Görlitzer Park or the View Platform at Berlin Humboldthain. This is from Humboldthain Platform Session in late Summer 2020. The talking People are part of the Track instead of singers or other instruments like in a good Filmsoundtrack or radio play. The well chosen Cover-Titles of TT Geigenschrey are a choicy TTributes and references and not too but respectful gestures to TTs own cultural and musical influences since his childhood and to bring rare musical to the public ear or to strangely mutate popular Tunes into something new, funny, odd, strange stylistical different like an art form good interpreters like Zappa Beefheart Rolling Stones Joni Mitchell Charles Mingus Grateful Dead or The Beatles or other unique Artist altered existent musical material.
